This year I learned quite a lot about myself and my work. First of all I got to use different animation software, as well as learned more about photoshop. This is important because in order to know how a software works, you need to figure out how each part functions. This became somewhat difficult, as it started to become an overload of information.
When collaborating with others, we worked well together. We each got our own roles to fulfill, and had to do our parts. It got somewhat difficult to do, as I am generally, a quiet person.
Communication helped me this year, by explaining my problems to the teacher. It allowed me to find solutions to my problems. Getting to that point is a hassle though, because I will try to figure out what I did wrong on my own.
Project management was an issue for me this year. When working on some projects, I was really slow. It got to the point where I never finished it. So, I need to learn how to work faster.
Leadership was difficult for me this year. I often got so wrapped up in my problems, that I never took initiative and asked for help. I need to learn how to take initiative.
My greatest strength, would be my ability to pour my effort ant time into a project. My greatest weakness would have to be my time management. I have gotten better at drawing since last year, and also shading. I would like to improve my skills in 3d animation though.
Im going to take what I have learned and make more improvements to it. In all honesty, I wish I could have done better this year. Im glad I learned what I did, and will move on with this new knowledge into next year.
Enjoy your retirement Mr. Olson!!!

I think my teachers are obsessed with spheres
Not to long ago I worked on a project for class where, surprise; we made balls bounce in 3d. When working on this, I put 3 videos on my desktop, of three different balls. I used Photoshop to mark the frames and height of each ball. I then created 3 balls in Maya, each with different sizes. I then applied materials, textures and bump maps for each. I then applied the frames and height of each ball to my animation. I tried rendering each frame, but I couldn't figure it out so, what I could get is shown below.
Snow
I was recently working on a project where I had to make snowflakes. I made them with a tool that creates polygons. I then used that tool to make half of part of a snowflake, mirror it, and duplicated it to make it. I did this six times, with each having different designs. Then I made them 3d objects. After that I made each one soft and applied a bump map to each. I was going to make an animation out of it, but I ran out of time. My results are below.

movie trailer
Last quarter, we were tasked with making a movie trailer. My team decided to do one called "the life of a wallflower," or something similar to that. We first recorded all the scenes and then began to edit the scenes together. I was tasked to make the blooper reel. It was much harder than you would think, as there were not many good ones. I managed to find the best ones, and strung it together. One of the things I would have changed, is I would have wanted to edit it a bit more to make it all work better.

Salt and cup
Recently i worked on a project where I was tasked to make a salt shaker and cup. I have yet to do the cup but I get the gist of how it will work. When working on the salt shaker, I learned how to use nurbs and create polygons. When I was almost done, I made a mistake and made holes in the model, so I had to artificially patch the holes.

Music video
Recently, I was assigned to make a music video. We got split up into multiple teams, where we would decide on what to do. We ended up doing a song called try. First we worked on the story board and film scape. Those were easier to do. Then we had to find volunteers to be part of the cast. I was the one who filmed, which took about 3 hours to finish. Finally we edited, and uploaded the video. Overall, the project was enjoyable and the people in it were great.

ONW now project
This project was a weird one. I haven't been given an outline for this to follow, so ill just give a synopsis of how we finished it, as well as my role in it. We were split into two different groups, and we each did the same thing. We started by coming up with the stories we would use. We then recorded the intro. All the people who were recording stores went out to record them, and I stayed here since I was part of production. we did a few run-throughs. and then actually recorded. After that we were finally done.

Multilayer/ Story blog

I couldn't finish the story animation. Im sorry. here is what I have though
Final
My first project of the year was a remake of my bouncing ball project. I Made a ball with a background and multiple layers for the foreground. Through the project i learned how to use after effects to make animations. I haven't been very great at using after effects, but I do know enough about it to make it work and get things done, and done well. I have been trying to improve my skills. If I could redo this animation, I would have fixed all the little errors with it. Overall, this was a well done project, that I enjoyed making.
Another one of the projects I did was the story animation. It required me to make multiple characters, backgrounds, faces and layers. Through this project I learned that animation is incredibly time consuming. I spent hours upon hours working on it, but then issues occurred leaving me no time to work. I ended up staying after eventually, but even that wasn't enough, thus it is incomplete. However after this is up, I will be posting the work I did get done.
My first big project in Maya, was making a castle with polygons. I learned how to use booleans, as well as apply textures. It was a very interesting project, and a lot of fun too, since I was doing something new. As soon as I finished it, I screwed up something with the camera, so it didn't look quite right. If I could do it again, I wouldn't screw up the camera.

written story
Every day we are constantly using our phones, wether we are playing games, talking with friends, or streaming videos, we all seem to be using them multiple times a day. Some use them more than others, some use less. We went into the halls to ask people about their phone usage as well as how addicted society is to them. Our most common answers to those questions were either yes, or it depends. A lot of people we talked to said that they were addicted to their phones, and some said they were not. Through this, we can infer that it just depends upon the person who is using it.

second feature story
at the beginning of this project, I was assigned a group. we decided that we should do a video on how people use their phones. We set up the equipment and borrowed a few people for the interview. It was a huge flop as only one student in the entire video took it seriously. we also got b- roll but not much though. this all left me with an underwhelming video which I am not proud of, thus being one of the two videos I made unlisted on my Chanel.

My interview
In this class, my group was assigned to make an interview. We first decided who was doing it, based on what their story was. Then we made the questions and started recording. when recording we used a microphone and multiple different shots. To make sure our shots looked good, we used the white balance feature. Over all I learned how to work better with a team, and how to use b-roll. Next time I. will make sure to not loose my clips.

This is my newest animation. I was going for something really goofy, but I couldn't do It because of my knowledge of Aftereffects. First I drew the character in my thing, and scanned it. I then traced over it, made multiple layers and colored it. I then imported it into aftereffects, and animated it.

This is my video. I used photoshop to make the worm and backgrounds. I used pins and moved them into positions. I was trying to animate as fluidly as possible, but I couldn't get it right. It ended up moving back and forth repeatedly when it wasn't supposed to.

quarter 4/ final
My project was to make a website based on a fictional product we were making. It took all quarter to finish. One of the many challenges we had to face was me someone else an I switching groups pre-maturely. I learned that Im not going to work great with everyone. I was told that i need to put more time into correcting mistakes. I couldn't fix it, as it was to late by then. I enjoyed 4th quarter. It was one heck of a ride, but its one worth riding again.
I used time in class as best as I could. What we would do is add extra touches to things when it was needed. I haven't stayed after school for e-comm yet, as i have always been able to fulfill my role in class.
After one year I have grown as a person. I have learned how to make my work better, and to communicate with others. I also learned how to present in front of others.
I feel like i need to be able to work faster. all year i feel like i have worked to slow and because of this slowed down everyone else's work.
I enjoyed working with new people all the time. I have been able to understand certain people better and gained a better understanding of myself. If I were to change anything i would have put more time into my work. Over all I would say that this year i learned how to understand people better. My new goal is to better myself as person and meet new people.

E-comm final project

This is the aqua bottle. It has the capabilities of refilling itself. It uses the hydrogen in the air, and combines it with the oxygen surrounding it. We made this logo as a from a short series of tests over time and then finished with this one.

While we were working on the logo, we were working on a name for our company. We came up with Splash. Before this version, we had an idea for it where it was plain text with a puddle in the background. We didn't like it so we chose this.

I was not here when making this. I was changing in and out of band clothes the whole hour. I can't comment that much on it.
This was an overall good experience for me, I got to help for once. even if it was just making the logo. I'm glad i got to work with these people.
